GLIMPSING THE COLLECTION

As a new member of the semi-exclusive club, I am honored to share some of the highlights from my personal collection. Each bears witness to many bygone eras.

1808 O-101.6 (VF30): This specimen exemplifies the elegance of the Capped Bust design, bearing the classic profile of Liberty.

Upon closer examination, you can see the seven below the second eight!

1811 O-104.3 (VF30): This coin showcases the distinctive "Large Eight" variety, a testament to the diversity found within the Capped Bust series. Notice how much larger the eight is than the 1808 above.

1829 O-104.3 (AU58): With its lustrous surfaces and sharp details, this coin stands as a testament to the enduring beauty of Capped Bust coinage. This is my finest graded specimen and you can see the detail of the coin! Here is the Obverse:

Here is the Reverse:

1836 O-108.3 (XF40): This coin exhibits the intriguing "1836/1336" overdate, offering a fascinating glimpse into the intricacies of early minting techniques.

It is hard to see from my picture below but the 8 in the date is cut over an erroneously cut 3, with a vertical section of the 3 showing on the right, inside the lower loop, and a knob of the 3 showing on the left inside the lower loop.

Each coin in my collection tells a story, connecting me to the rich tapestry of American history and the enduring legacy of the Capped Bust half-dollar series.

CONCLUSION

As collectors and enthusiasts, we are custodians of history, preserving and cherishing these tangible links to the past. Through organizations like the Bust Half Nut Club and the acquisition of remarkable pieces like those in my collection, we ensure that the legacy of the Capped Bust half dollar endures for generations to come, inspiring wonder and fascination in all who see them.
